Rainy, foggy, ah, sue me... the background is quite foggy though!
This piece was done to accompany a story in a magazine. Not my usual style I know, but if that's what people want to pay me to produce - who am I to argue?
I still get a lot of work in my "realistic" style...sometimes it just feels good to go back to your roots, you know? Especially if someone is paying you for it!
Hey I recognise that girl... and is that the wonder brolly? :) Nice strong composition and palette and a real spark in Vickey's expression. You're right, don't argue, at least you can then call yourself a professional illustrator!
I especially like the couple of drips coming off the right of the umbrella, thaey give you the full sense of rain without being overstated. Simple things please simple minds eh? See you Saturday ShyGuy.
we've stepped into a time machine, and we're back in the 1950's...you, at your drawing table...and this piece for...a travel mag? a "wonder brolly?" (it actually took me a minute to decode what matt meant.) :))
this is gorgeous, kevin. work is work, realism or not but you do it so classically beautifully.

Very calm and nice, I really like your other work also!
Great expression you capture in this!
Very lovely illustration. I love how you interpreted the fog in the background.

Nicely done... a very good foggy effect in the background.
