Evil Genius
The new DrawerGeeks topic is 'Evil Genius'. This was loads and loads of fun with stacks of possibilities. I thought about the classic Donald Pleasance Bond villian and Mike Myers' Dr.Evil that was spawned by him. I thought about Ming the merciless and other such Sci-Fi villains... I thought about Dick Dastardly, The Hooded Claw, Baron Greenback and Dr. Frankenstein... I was tempted to revisit some old ground too.
What have I come up with then? Only a rough sketch, but one that I'm pleased seems to capture the essence of a lot of those characters mentioned above, but it also owes something to Braniac from Superman and Dr. Emit Brown from Back to the Future for the hat thing.
I'd have loved to have a bit more time to work this up, design a proper lair and possibly a henchman or two in the background too, alas time she was a cruel mistress and for now this is where I must leave it.
Oh, and one last thing:
Mwhah-ha-ha-ha-ha-haaaaaaa!

First Dredd of 2010
Not much else to say really.
A reasonably quick sketch - I'm still defining how I want my Dredd to look I think.

Camel Spider
A tardy ticket for me on this. The twisted creatures that I've been doing with Phil and Matt have really taken a backseat recently - sorry fellas... Here's mine, a really quick biro doodle that I've fiddled with for about 5 minutes in photoshop.
Phil did his ages ago...
Matt has done his too.
Next up is the Giraffe... beautiful animals. They have prehensile tongues you know. It's anybody's guess when I'll have a chance to draw something though.

2 Years Old
Well, happy birthday dear blog. 2 years old today, over 250 posts, 440 ish images, far too many words - too much information?
It's moments in time like this that I take stock and realise I have a lot to be grateful for...
The support of a fine band of people including most notably my wife who is supporting me whilst I chase my dreams.
The opportunities that have been offered to me in just the past couple of months.
I am working at the moment - which is a miracle considering the state the country is in.
Things are looking incredibly good for 2010, but I don't want to jinx myself by wishing/hoping/banking on too much.
and there's loads more besides...
I also have a lot of special thank yous to make, and I know it's a cliché but, those people know who they are... THANK YOU, your help has meant a lot.

Sexy Sci-Fi Siren
A quick sketch for today.
***EDIT*** It would appear that I owe some sort of credit to Dylan Teague here. I think I must have been indirectly or subconsciously influenced by a piece of his work... which can be seen here, and damn fine it is too.

Happy New Year
Here is a very quick sketch of Strontium Dog (Johnny Alpha). I've just finished reading a story called A Traitor to His Kind in my catch-up reading of the weekly progs. It's a great story, and like A Portrait of a Mutant it really gives background depth to Johnny's character.
This year, according to various sources, John Wagner will revisit/rewrite the death of Johnny Alpha, I'd like the story to give Johnny back his future. I didn't think Johnny should have died in The Final Solution and don't mind if there is a twist in the tale that gives him his life back - I'd like to think Johnny eventually finds happiness and gets to retire to an alien planet somewhere...
Hopefully that's a nice positive thought for the start to the New Year.
