More of Dredd's Head

I dunno if I've mentioned it, but I'm going to be doing a Judge Dredd strip for a future issue of Zarjaz, and very excited I am too!
It's a great little story involving Mopads, the mobile homes of the future... written by Lee Robson, it's got old school style and as a warm up I've just done this quick Dredd head.

I've still not settled on a look that I'm happy with, but this has that gritty brooding quality I've been after for a while, if not exactly the style of previous attempts.

Nice look forward to seeing your Dredd maybe it will twist Tharg's arm that little bit more. It can only be a matter of time before he caves in

Love the way we can see through the clear part of the visor and obviously THE CHIN!

Keep it up Kev

Love the pensive Dredd - the calm before the enforcement storm, smashing...Bertie B

I like this version of Dredd probably more than any other I've seen. He has a real ape like quality that really suits him.

I agree with the earlier comment... it's very effective to see the nose through the visor. It gives more depth (physically and character wise) to your Dredd. A really nice touch, maybe a Kev signature for the character...? For me the chin is just a shade too Les Dawson 'old woman toothless chin'.... does that even make sense...??! Not to be overly critical though, you have managed to convey a tremendous sense of volume in the lower face and I love the interaction between the volumes of the head and the helmet. This bodes very well for what will surely be a great Dredd piece. I've a mental image (wrong no doubt...) of Dredd as a hippy type in his split screen VW combi Mopad :) Congrats on your first Dredd story of many!
